A Pennsylvania Quaker Protests Violations of Theft Against his Property by American Continental Army Soldiers, "... to carry provision &c to the Valley Forge..."
c. 1778 American Revolutionary War Period, Manuscript Document, 3 pages, legal folio, measuring 8" x 13.25", no place, Very Fine.
Extremely rare Revolutionary War Content being an account by a Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Quaker, regarding violations against his personal property executed by Continental Army soldiers over the course of three years. This Document reads, in part:

"...Took away my gun ... for the use of the Soldiers in the present war against the King & our Mother Country of England ... came nine men armed as soldiers and took my waggon, two horses & gears to Newtown for to carry provision &c to the Valley Forge, took two loads, the horses & the gears was brought home on first day night following ... A Negroe man that drove the last load... Drivers searched my house & nearly every room in it; my barn, outhouses He also forced or broke open the granary window & a door that was locked..."

Old deeply toned tape present along the left outer margin, with water staining affecting some text with browning and lightening along the outer right margins both at top and bottom. Pages eparated at fold. A most extraordinary document showing the dark side of the war.
