PHILOSOPHY -- HUET, (P.D.). Traité philosophique de la foiblesse de l'esprit humain. Lond., J. Nourse, 1741. xl, 296 pp. Sm-8°. Cont. mottled cf. w. raised bands & richly dec. gilt back. (Spine ends a bit dam., name entry on ti-p., annot. in an old hand on free endpaper). This work was regarded by the author as his best one, but he did not dare publish it during his lifetime (according to the publisher's preface). Huet was a severe critic of Descartes (whose Cogito ergo sum was so deftly dissected by him that he finally transformed it in "I thought, then perhaps I was"). First published in 1723.
