Description: PORTRAIT OF A YOUNG JOSEPH II, OIL ON CANVAS, 19th century. Joseph II (Joseph Benedikt Anton Michael Adam; 1741-1790) was the Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of the Habsburg lands, the eldest son of Maria Theresa and Francis I, and brother of Marie Antoinette. Image measures 37" x 28.5", remnant of a signature starting with "M" upper left. In a gilt wood and gesso frame, 45" x 35.5" overall.

Condition Report: 748: The oil on canvas has been re-lined and was once framed in an oval frame, therefore all four corners have been in-painted, some slight pigment loss in upper central quadrant above head, frame heavily chipped and repaired.
