Grant, David Farragut and over 15 others of the highest ranking officers of the Army and Navy; including Charles Sumner, Schuyler Colfax, and many other leading Senators and Representatives of the 38th U.S. Congress; and including 18 U.S. Presidents with every consecutive President from Franklin D. Roosevelt to Barack Obama. Most written 2-3 per page, most on rectos only, most including rank or state, last 17 leaves blank. 8vo, morocco, edges rubbed; front hinge cracked, first gathering nearly loose, minor scattered soiling; cloth chemise and slipcase. The album was purchased in 1954 from Goodspeed's Book Shop by collector and Manuscript Society president Herbert Klingelhofer (1915-2015), who obtained the presidential signatures beginning with Hoover, and from whom it passed to the present owner, Klingelhofer's descendants.
