Description: This is an antique colonial primitive paint decorated hanging or table top candle box with shelf from New England circa 1700s for your consideration. The candle box is handmade of white pine wood with handmade nails. The candle box has an arched medial back with a carved lollipop finial top. The candle box has a shelf to hold small candlesticks, matches, and a candle snuffer. Below the shelf is a deep well to hold candles. The candle box is paint decorated with a red wash stain. The antique colonial candle box can sit table top or be hung on the wall. The antique candle box has some loss and dry age cracks from over two centuries of use that does not affect its strength but only adds to character and integrity. Wall hanging clips have been added at a later date.
