Arms of Bohemia and Moravia, and a lady with putti and more machinery. The company was formed in Prague, 1870, by 30 investors to construct machinery for the sugar industry. The company capital amounted to 1 million gulden. Yet, the company also wished to engage itself in other construction works (for the mining industry, bridges,...). In 1901, the company also started building locomotives and 2 years later, gas engines. In 1907, a joint venture with F. Ringhoffer resulted in the Prager Automobilfabrik Ges. ('Praga'-cars). Further expansion followed in the shipping and aviation industry. Merged in 1927 with two other companies(Kolben & Co. and Danek & Co.) to form Ceskomoravska-Kolben-Danek, better known as CKD. It was one of the biggest Czechoslovak industrial conglomerates with a workforce of 50,000 people in the 1946-1990 period. After the communist area, the firm was split into several separate companies. A most attractive share of one of the most important of all Czech industrial companies. Rarity 11.
