Rare Type "BUNKER HILL MONUMENT" Silk Ribbon Commemorates Bunker Hill & General Joseph Warren
June 17, 1843-Dated, Commemorative Bunker Hill Monument and Major General Joseph Warren, Silk Ribbon, Very Fine.
This wonderful ornate 3" x 8" Silk Ribbon Commemorates Bunker Hill and Major General Joseph Warren who died in that battle against the British. White silk with black printing, 2 images. Top image shows the monument with text that reads, "BUNKER HILL MONUMENT" above image, and has the legend, "Commemorative of June 17, 1775. Consecrated June 17, 1843." Lower image shows an Oval Printed Portrait of General Joseph Warren with flags and cannons. The text reads, "MAJ. GEN. JOSEPH WARREN. Who was slain in the Battle of Bunker Hill." Poem below reads, ""For God's inalienable rights to man, Our fathers fought and bled! So glorious were those rights secured, The sons revere the dead." Expected light folds, stains and slightly frayed at top away from the design. Extremely rare type, the very first we have seen!
