St. Augustine, FL, USALive Auction
Description: This is a Wonderfully Rare Antique “Jacot’s” Carved Oak Swiss Cylinder Music Box with Wooden Box of Extra Cylinders, Circa’ 1890. This piece is in wonderful playing condition and physical condition. The hand crank music box measures approximately 28” x 13” x 8.25”. The oak box is ornately carved, plays lovely music, and appears to have a bone or ivory key escutcheon. The glass protective glass allows you to see the cylinder rotate and play. Please view photos of the Switzerland patent plate and the Jacot’s safety check, patent 1886. This musical piece is accompanied with an additional 4 cylinder oak caddy box, with some signs of wear to the case. There are four musical cylinders included, each we believe to play 6 to 8 songs. The cylinders measure 11.25" from end cap to end cap and 16.5" from shaft to shaft. The caddy box measures approximately 19.25” x 12.75” x 4.25”. The key for each box is not present, however both boxes are unlocked (a key could be easily matched?). The music box appears to have two settings “change at will” and “change repeat”. We will demonstrate the music box playing prior to the item being sold on the block. The cylinders are each numbered and serial numbered, as follows; G 619, G 601, G 603 & G 606.
