Looking for the realised and estimated price?

Description: Pre-Columbian, Oaxaca, Mexico, Zapotec culture, Monte Alban, ca. 100 BCE to 200 CE. This is an example of one of the famous forms of Monte Alban pottery, made from crema paste ceramics. These elaborately decorated items were produced as prestige items and local lords in the Monte Alban area received them via gift-giving networks that reinforced the power of the Zapotec lords. This particular vessel is a bulbous-bodied bottle with a long, thin spout terminating in a slightly flared rim with flattened lip. The bottle stands on two small feet - those belonging to the lord whose rounded body has two attached arms, hands touching at the non-existent waist. His head and incredible headdress is attached to the neck; he has a distinctly duck-like mouth and wears two enormous spooled earrings in addition to his headdress. Size: 4.3" W x 7.45" H (10.9 cm x 18.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex - Allen Davis collection, Santa Fe, NM
