Description: REMBRANDT VAN RIJN
Self Portrait Open Mouthed, as if Shouting: Bust.

Etching, 1630. 73x61 mm; 3x2 1/2 inches, thread margins. Biörklund's second state (of 3); Usticke's second state (of 3); White and Boon's second state (of 3). A very good, dark and well-inked impression of this extremely scarce, early etching with strong contrasts.

We have found fewer than 20 other impressions at auction in the past 30 years.

According to Usticke, "A very scarce portrait, usually greyish." Bartsch 13; Biörklund 30-N; Hollstein (White and Boon) 13.
