Description: 1895? Action de F500. multicolour, gold. No 859. A superb piece. The company was founded 1895 as a partnership company (société en commandite) by Eric Hennebuisse in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a commune in the Yvelines department in north-central France. Today it is a suburb of Paris, 24km from the center of Paris. The commune, considered the capital of the French inland waterways, is situated at the confluence of the Seine and Oise rivers. The company offered towing service on these rivers. Most colourful (with goldprint) and striking design by A. Doumenq of a canal view with a barge named 'l'Union fait la force', house and bridge. Towing (by horses) on inland waterways used the be the norm, but these days, of course, canal barges are self-powered, and the towpaths are for pleasure use only. While tastes can differ, this surely must be the most attractive of all French shipping shares. Only three pieces have been discovered in 2002. Rarity 10.
