Description: Artist: EMIL CARDINAUX (1877-1936) Size: 34 1/2 x 49 3/8 in./87.6 x 125.4 cm J.E. Wolfensberger, Zurich Along with Burkhard Mangold, Cardinaux propagated the Swiss Art Poster -- essentially, a painting with text attached to the bottom. This design for the Rhätische Bahn railway is a perfect example of his work, even though the Tarasp Castle noted in the text seems visually insignificant, hidden amongst the daunting mountains that surround it. This is the rare, larger format version of the poster. (rail, travel)
