Description: [Russo-Turkish War 1828/29] RAINOLD C. E., “Uebersichts Karte des Turkischen Reiches in Europa und Asien 1829” Vienna 1829. Map of the theater of the Russo-Turkish war 1828/29, Dimensions 48.5x36cm. Early separately printed, lithograph map of the Balkan Peninsula Turkey & the Black Sea, and also a nice example of early lithography (only after ~1825, lithographed maps started to outmatch the copper engr.). Karl Rainold was a German journalist and writer who lived in the Austrian empire. The purpose of this Rainold’s map was to briefly represent the theater of the 1828/29 war, a matter of great interest among the European people. This has resulted in the current map that in cartographic terms could be characterised as obsolete and outdated. This specific purpose & its separate printing (it has never been included in atlases), resulted in very few survived examples. Folded vertically (as issued) & horizontally. Overall Fine condition. VERY RARE.
