Description: Artist: JULIEN LACAZE (1886-1971) Size: 11 1/2 x 17 1/2 in./29.2 x 44.3 cm With the lights of the Grand Palais glowing warmly in the Parisian night, dozens of chauffeur-driven automobiles line up in front of the 12th Salon de l'Automobile. It is the perfect winter evening scene of the city, wherein the viewer is peering through the trees at the monumental building, yearning to go inside. Lacaze's design was ultimately not chosen to advertise the event, though -- that honor went to Gaston Simoes de Fonseca. (auto)
