Glazed ceramic. Siam, Sawankhalok, around 15th cent.
A large, massive dish with an especially beautiful glaze! Compact body with curved sides and wide, diagonally flared rim. The font presents the typical Sawankhalok ceramic composition of a large blossom, distinctively incised and bordered by several loop lines. The center of the blossom displays a larger volute, several loop lines also on bend of the rim. The grey-green, cool glaze is equally characteristic for this ware, offering a very spirited, compact craquelé. Around the unglazed foot, showing yellow-reddish-white shard, is the irregular run of glaze end.
