Description: SERAFINI, L. Codex Seraphinianus. Milan, F.M. Ricci, (1981). 2 vols. W. num. beautifully cold. ill. by L. Serafini. Fol. Bound in black silk bindings with gilt lettering and dec. on cover and spine, 2 diff. ill. mounted on the front sides. Each vol. in or. clamshell box. (Slight fading to spines of boxes, but else in fine condition). A masterpiece of fantasy painstakingly illustrating a non-existent world and written in a non-existent language which, at times, seems to be a surrealist parody of our own world. Serafini, an architect and graphic designer, wrote and illustrated the volumes during a two-year period in the late 1970s. - First edition. Printed in a limited and numbered edition on Fabriano paper and signed by the author in the colophon. From the library of André Houtschild.
