SERGE FERAT 1881-1958
(Le Comte Sergueï Yastrebzov) Moscow 1881-1958 Paris (Russian/French)
Title: The Jugglers. Theater Decor Project for Matoum at Matamouasie by Pierre Albert Birot: The Circus Riders
Technique: Original Ink Drawing on paper
size: 29 x 28 cm / 11.4 x 11 in
Additional information: This is an Original Ink Drawing by the artist Serge Ferat
from the famous collection of his partner Haba Roussot.
Férat showed his work, with that of other Cubists, at the Salon des Indépendants until 1928,
and at La Section dOr in 1925 - whose Europe-wide reputation furthered recognition of his work.
Thereafter he gradually distanced himself from the strictures of Cubism,
and developed a passion for the circus and parades.
Férat, who died in 1958, bequeathed his collection to Haba Roussot, his companion for over 20 years.
Until her death in 2001, Haba devoted all her energy to promoting Serge Férat's work, showing it
across Europe and in the United States and Japan.
Provenance: Collection Haba and Alban Roussot.
Condition: Very good condition. Unexamined out of the frame. Surface dirt. Note: This work will be shipped from London.
