More About this Item

Description: 26 April 1779 6% Treasury certificate of 25 Pounds. black. No 425. Ref. Anderson MA18-R5 with 500 issued. Vignette of a pine tree. Issued by the State of Massachusetts Bay to help pay for the Revolutionary War against the British occupation. Massachusetts was the first state to issue these loan certificates (1776).
