Description: Suffolk Regiment First World War Death plaque, (Walter Arthur Curtis) 7676 Private in the Suffolk Regiment, 1st Battalion, born Little Waldingfield Suffolk, enlisted Sudbury, killed in action 16th March 1915 in the Western Theatre, roll of honour extract states "He was killed in action at Neuve Chapelle 16 March, the Commanding Officer of his company wrote that he was doing his turn of duty in the trenches and at 5:30 p.m. volunteered to go to a spring near his trench and fetch some water. He obtained the water and was on his way back when he was shot by a German sniper"
