FINE GOLD LACQUER AND SHIBAYAMA TSUBA
SIGNED KOMA KYUHAKU, 19TH CENTURY
formed as an outsized tsuba and decorated in fine shibayama, ivory and mother-of-pearl detailing, the front panel with a humorous scene of a man with an apparatus on his head perilously balancing three balls whilst another man attempts to catch them whilst musicians play to the side , the reverse with two men confronted by demons, signed Koma Kyuhaku
- Good overall condition with the inlay well-preserved. There are only some slight wear and bruises to the lacquer especially in areas along the edges of the tsuba.
