IMPRESSIVE SHIBAYAMA-INLAID IVORY ELEPHANT
the elephant realistically carved in the round, caparisoned, bejewelled and intricately inlaid in Shibayama style in mother-of-pearl, coral, tortoiseshell and stained ivory with peony flowers on the top and a basket of flowers and birds on the sides of the saddle blanket, with wood stand
- Good overall condition
- There is a crack to the elephant's forehead measuring circa 4cm in length, there is also a further crack and a chip to the ends of the saddle rug
- There are some hairline age cracks to the feet and the edge of the ears
- The inlay is mostly well-preserved with losses ionly in a few small areas
- Some surface dirt
