Description: 1 July 1897 BRUXELLES/MOSCOW. Part de Fondateur. green, brown. #1500. No 248. Formed 1897 to exploit patents for the production of glycerin. In 1901 took over the assets of S.A. Austro-Hongroise des Glycerines pures et corps gras industriels, in liquidation in Paris. These assets were factories in Trieste (then Austria, now Italy) and in Moscow, near Petrovsky Park. The most important use for glycerin was, after nitration, to produce dynamite and other explosives, although the chemical was used in pharmaceuticals, meat-preserving and other trades. Border with a glycerin-plant, ladies symbolising commerce and industry, and the arms of Belgium.
