Description: TACITUS. (Opera) ex I. Lipsii accur. editione. Leyden, Elzevier, 1634. (19), 786, (29) pp. W. engr. ti. & 1 engr. plate w. small portrs. 12°. Cont. vellum w. overl. sides. (Upper edge of vellum dam., ties fail, slightly browned/foxed). Justus Lipsius, 1547-1606, became professor of history in 1579 at the newly founded university of Leiden. His greatest work was his edition of Tacitus. - Willems, 415: "L'édition est fort belle et très recherchée."; Dibdin II, 452; Schweiger II, 1001.
