Description: 4 May 1813 SAN JUAN. 6% Bond of 25 Pesos. black. No 151. Printed by wood-block on handmade paper. Arms of the Spanish intendencia of Puerto Rico. At this time, Puerto Rico was controlled from Havana ; only after the Spanish-American War of 1899-1900 did Puerto Rico become an American possession. Spanish colonial paper from Puerto Rico is very rare.
