Description: John Goodyear (American, b. 1930), "Two-Sided Movement", ca. 1966 CE. Created by the esteemed artist John Goodyear, a hand-signed and numbered two-piece optical art serigraph from the edition of 225 (Number 78/225), comprised of a silkscreen on vinyl, red on black, with openwork as shown, dating to 1966 and published by Tanglewood Press for the portfolio New York International, printed by Chiron Press. A wonderful example of Op Art, this three dimensional hanging vinyl work comes with a sheet of special instructions detailing directions for hanging the piece. It explains that the print is actually washable vinyl and does not require framing. It is also reversible and both sides of the printed sheet may be used. The instructions explain how to tie a nylon cord or substantive white thread to ceiling pins, so that the front sheet is "free to glide back and forth with a push or with air currents." An amazing example of classic Op Art, part of a treasured portfolio published by Tanglewood Press that featured internationally renowned artists Arman, Oyvind Fahlstrom, Mary Baumeister, Allen Jones and John Goodyear famed Americans Motherwell, James Rosenquist, and Ad Reinhardt. This work is housed in its original portfolio case and comes with the introduction written by Metropolitan Museum curator Henry Geldzahler. Size: 22" L x 17" W (55.9 cm x 43.2 cm)
