More About this Item

Description: 15 May 1964 AMSTERDAM. Cert. van gewone aandelen Fl.100, specimen. brown, blue, black. Formed 1872 by Antoon Jurgens as the world's first margarine factory (Oss, North Brabant). Merged into "Margarine Unie" in 1927. Two years later, the company merged with the British soap maker Lever Brothers to form Unilever. The merger made sound commercial sense, as palm oil was a major raw material for both margarines and soaps. Today, the Anglo-Dutch Unliver Group is the world's third-largest consumer goods company with products including food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products. This specimen share was printed by Enschede in Haarlem.
