Benett, double-page map. 4to, contemporary 1/2 calf by Maclaren & Macniven, spine in compartments with morocco lettering piece, few scuffs, mild rubbing; foxing confined to front and end matter, bookplate. early edition, with verne's visiting card signed by him with 7-line inscription dated March [18]96 laid-down to front pastedown. Paris: J. Hetzel, [1873]

Notes: with-Les Tribulations d'un Chinois en Chine. Illustrated with steel engravings by L. Benett. 4to, publisher's red cloth with pictorial cover by Paul Souze, all edges gilt, extremities slightly rubbed with some exposure to bottom edges; short closed tear to blank margin of half-title/frontis leaf, preliminaries foxed. Later cartonnage edition. Paris, [1895].
