Description: Fired clay. Pre-Columbian America, Lambayeque, Peru, approx.14th cent. (time examined)

Black vessel, the foot is broad, diagonally flared and with an incised geometric design. The spherical body offers on the front two three-dimensional faces, grown-together twins directly next to each other. Above the foreheads is a continuous ribbed band suggesting head hair. The spout is pipe-shaped, tall and lightly tapered, its curved handle reaching to back of the vessel. Age characteristics, preservation appears to be original and good. The Lambayeque Culture (also called Sican) expressed its peak at approx. 700 to later 14th century and was on the North coast of Peru.
HEIGHT 18,5 CM
Former collection of Moran BRD, acquired in the 70´s.

Certificate No. 990420 of TL-age examination in the German Laboratory Kotalla of Juli 1990 is available
