Description: This is a Warring States Period (BC 475-221)lacquer wood drum stand with a drum in the middle. The stand is designed as a pair of phoenixes standing on top of two tigers. The drum is made of leather and lacquer wood and decorated with two gilt phoenixes. The base is designed as two recumbent tigers also decorated with gilt.The whole set of drum stand is fitted with joints. It has 10 pieces of parts all together including the drum. This set of drum was designed by the State of Chu which was the strongest State during the Warring States Period. People of Chu believed that phoenix could be reborn from ash.
