Description: Artist: EUGENE OGÉ (1869-1936) Size: 28 3/8 x 38 1/8 in./72 x 97 cm Imp. Vercasson, Paris Waterman was known for its aggressive marketing campaign, which greatly contributed to the introduction of fountain pens as a mass consumer good in the 19th century. Here, a sunrise branded with the year 1919, as well as the above text claiming that the pen is the "weapon of peace," would imply that a Waterman pen was used to sign the Treaty of Versailles. (pen)
