Lot 63: WILL & FINCK BOWIE KNIFE SKINNER STAG HANDLE RARE COWBOY ERA
TERRA INCOGNITA Fall Western Cowboy, Native American, Sporting, Advertising, Decoy, Gun, Knife, & Photography Auction
01 November 2016
Chicago, IL, USALive Auction
Description: This is an original Will and Finck Bowie that was made between the years 1894 and 1904. Due to tapered tang it was likely made closer to the 1894 date (note two way tapered tang). The Will & Finck Co was only in business during these years. Will & Finck had regrouped and renamed the business with Co. This is likely one of a few knives that were some of the last to be made by these famed cutlers of San Francisco. It sports the original sheath and has a great early stag antler handle. The tang is double tapered with iron pins. Overall this is a great Cowboy culture and era Bowie Knife. Bowies by this company in this rich historical time period in America are few and far between. This is one of the rarer maker marks or stampings. This is a true frontier cowboy collectible.
