Literature: J.A. Walker, ''Documents on the Life and Art of William Wendt (1865-1946), California?s Painter Laureate of the Paysage moralise'', Big Pine, CA, 1992, no. 604, pp. 108-109, 185. Note: In mid-May of 1933, Wendt and his good friend and fellow painter Aaron Kilpatrick (1872-1953 San Luis Obispo, CA) went on a three week sketching trip. According to ?'The Wendts' Chronology'? in Walker?s book, ''Documents on the Life and Art of William Wendt'', p. 62, they returned from ?El Toro? on June 9th. El Toro is likely to be the town of El Toro, CA near Lake Forest in Orange County and may be the location of the present work.

Condition Report: Visual: Generally good condition. A scattered line of craquelure along the upper edge. Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight.
