Description: A very fine antique Chinese bronze censer, band of floral petal encircled the countersunk flat base, rising the cylindrical straight body to flat wide opening. Two deer masks emerged under the rim, created handles, beneath the repeating key fret pattern ribbon. The dome lid decorated with pierced scrolling tendrils supported the characteristically nephrite jade finial with elaborate carving of deer interspersed by dense of foliate motif. Exquisitely displayed upon carved hardwood pedestal stand. Mark on Base, incised four characters.

Provenance: PROVENANCE: From the heirs of Sir john Dorrington and the Vosper estates from Stroud Gloucestershire these items were purchased by a prominent antiques collector in 2008. Seeking historical and collectible items he attended numerous auctions and estate sales in the area as well as from nearby countries. Sometimes finding a rarity sometimes just the camaraderie of fellow collectors.
