Description: WORMERVEER -- JAN DEKKER -- CASH BOOK of the company Jan Dekker at Wormerveer. June 1769 - Dec. 1776. Very neat handwriting in Dutch on 541 numbered pages. Fol. Cont. vellum binding w. later cf. spine and corners. (Spine and corners a bit dam./chafed, some light marg. stains). In 1774 Jan Dekker established, together with his brother-in-law Lammert Trip, the company Trip & Dekker, but in 1778 he decided to continue under his own name with 'handel in potasch en weedasch', besides the trade in trass. The trass was grinded in the mill 'De Rietvink' at the 'Bartelsluis'. Nevertheless there are documents in the archive that date back to 1766, so Jan Dekker was already productive at that time. In the beginning he mainly dealt in coleseed and flax seed (Mill De Goijer en Mill de Leeuw), later in ash (potash and weedash) and trass. In 1957 the company is bought out by 'De Chemische Fabriek Naarden' (CFN) and this was sold in 1987 to Unilever. Several names of customers: Johannes Calverboer, Gerrit Jut, Meerkamp & De Jong, Adriaan van Dongen, Pieter van Oorschot, Fiddo Jans Bart, Cornelis Slaats, Wed. Hendrik Jelles, Hendrik van Don, Lammert Linthorst, Klaas Jeltes, Dirk Laken, Hendrik Boon, a.m.o.
