AN UNUSUAL COLIMA RECUMBENT CURLED DOG(161 views)
Description: This hollow ceramic figure of a recumbent curled pup, burnished with red to reddish-brown slip overall, is a whimsical example of the Comala sub-style of the Colima sculptural tradition. This dog has incised eyes, snout, and flanging ears, displaying a restful, content expression. The tail is pigmented with a creamy white and curls outward below the chin which rests near the tail. A rectangular spout is attached to the curve of the pupââ¬â¢s left side, his four legs are delineated on the underside, and this pup's surface is endowed with a fine patina.
