Description: A Thai bronze buddha hand sculpture in the Rattanakosin Kingdom style, depicting his right hand with fingers in "jnana mudra" and his forearm in a sleeve decorated with an elaborate floral design and bands of rings, mounted on an old wood Stand. Jnana Mudra or Gyan Mudra is the most common yogic mudra used in meditation. In Sanskrit, the word ·JnanaÃÂ¢Ã¥ÃÃ¥Âª means knowledge or wisdom and ·mudra means sign or gesture. It literally means the psychic gesture of Knowledge or wisdom. Provenance: The collection of Andre Carlhian (1883-1968). Carlhian turned his family's exporting company, established in 1867, into a prestigious decorating firm in Paris in 1905. Many of his commissions came through art dealer Joseph Duveen.
