Chimu/Inca Miniature Tunic with 24 Silver Fish Appliques(51 views)
Description: The silver fish appliques are attached with the original thread through two holes in each fish. These may have been for a child's doll. The silver fish are repousse and each made individually. Similar examples found in Textile Museum's publication 'Lords of Chimor' The Textile Museum, Washington DC. on pg. 102. This tunic could be mounted flat, or folded over a stand. There is another loin cloth with silver fish applique in the Wasserman San Blas collection sewn the sam way.
Condition Report: Good with original patina on the fish. The tunic is backed with a cloth for hanging on a bar.
