Disney Brave Little Tailor Walt Disney Studios 1938(444 views)
Description: The classic cartoon "Brave Little Tailor" was a labor of love for Walt Disney. The detail that went into the animation was superb and was one of the reasons that costs for producing the film were so high. One can see that Disney even animated the shadows that the giant had on him because of his size, and all this detail resulted in 1000s of extra hours of labor for the ink and paint division. Few people realize that the giant was animated by the great Bill Tytla and his version of a giant with a huge body and a small head became the de facto standard of giants in future films. Vladimir Peter "Bill" Tytla (October 25, 1904 ? December 30, 1968) was one of the original Disney animators and is considered by many to be the best Disney animator that ever lived. Tytla is noted for the animation of Grumpy in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Stromboli in Pinocchio, Chernabog in the Night on Bald Mountain sequence from Fantasia and the title character in Dumbo. In 1994 the film was chosen as the 26th greatest cartoon of all time by members of the animation field. The list was compiled in the book The 50 Greatest Cartoons. Very few animation cels of the giant exist today and most are partial images. The cel exhibits some mottling of the paint and the cel material has some waviness. In 1938 Disney published a comic book based on the film and it has been mounted with the cel creating a special piece which will be unique in any collection and captures a moment of time.
