Egyptian Bronze Seated Harpocrates(112 views)
Description: Late Period, ca. 715-330 BC. Shown seated, with shaved head and sidelock, Horus has his feet on the ground, his arms at his sides, and is nude except for a uraeus serpent atop his head. Horus-the-child is often shown seated on the lap of his mother Isis, nursing at her breast, but the square base on which his feet rest suggests that this piece was independent of a larger statue ensemble. Mounted. Ex Midwest Collection formed before 1967. H. 4" (10 cm). aq17916
