Ernesto Neto, Body Soul (II E.Neto), 1995(245 views)
Description: Ernesto Neto is a Brazilian artist, b. 1964, known for his powerfully sensuous creations that evoke a bodily or biomorphic experience. His practice explores the boundaries of physical and social space through interactive, tactile, and biomorphic structures. While often known for his large-scale sculptures and environments, he also has a large body of works on paper, drawings and the like. This piece entitled, "Body Soul," is one such fine example. The work is 31 x 18 5/8 inches from 1995. It is not currently framed. The form you see in this piece is truly characteristic to Neto. It is a shape that he uses over and over thru his body of work. Neto has been the subject of major museum exhibitions and collections worldwide, including: the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris, among others.
