Federal Style Breakfront/Bookcase(64 views)
Description: Massachusetts. French polished mahogany and mahogany veneer with maple, mahogany, and ebony inlay; ivory escutcheons; original solid brass pulls; reverse painted (eglomeise) panels, probably painted in France; mirrored panels in center doors; hand blown glass in "X" mullioned doors. This is an adaptation of the original Hepplewhite piece which is now in the Winterthur Museum. It was hand-made using the same methods used in the original and with old wood probably salvaged from period furniture. The breakfront has 7 drawers, 2 wood paneled doors and 4 glass doors with 7 movable shelves. The piece comes into 4 separate pieces for ease of moving. The upper drawer section was handmade by us for the last owners and can be removed if desired.
Condition Report: Very good condition - some minor dings, mars, and cracks commensurate with age - some deteriation on the eglomeise panels.
