Georgian Irish Wall Clock, Circa 1820(458 views)
Description: Irish wall clock signed on painted iron dial by Crosthwaite and Hodges. The case has a carved gilded and ebonized rope-shaped surround. The convex glass cover has a polychromed reeded rim which lifts up to open. Fusee 8-day movement strikes once on every hour. John Crosthwaite was a very well known clock maker in Dublin and made clocks for observatories some of which still exist. He took on Hodges as a partner later in his career.
Condition Report: Very good. Keeps excellent time. The dial has a bit of wear.
