Description: 13th-century manuscript leaf with colorful initials and borders. Use of Utrecht. 18 lines of text on each side written in a gothic script on vellum. 12 single line initials in burnished gold with red or blue decorations. 1 large 3 line initial "C" on verso painted in gold with a blue interior with white tracery. A lovely border painted in burnished gold, pink , and blue extends from the large initial across half of the leaf. 8 line extenders in blue, red, & gold. The text contains the beginning of Isaiah 12, starting at the beginning of the large "C": Confitebor tibi, Domine, quoniam iratus es mihi; conversus est furor tuus, et consolatus es me. Ecce Deus salvator meus; fiducialiter agam, et non timebo: English translation: I will confess to you, O Lord, because you have been angry with me; but your fury has been turned away, and you have consoled me. Behold, God is my savior, I will act faithfully, and I will not be afraid Size: 122x97 mm (approx 4.8 x 3.8 inches). A few smudges, but generally clean and bright.
