Description: Jack Meanwell (1919 - 2005), "Waterfall", original painting, oil on canvas, signed lower left. This lively abstract landscape captures a scenic waterfall near the artist's studio in McGregor Bay, Canada. Originally from Windsor, Ontario, Meanwell studied at the Detroit Art Academy and the Society of Arts and Crafts. He became an artist of landscape and figurative work in styles ranging from totally abstract to realist. He spent more than 25 teaching at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and, while living in Cincinnati, maintained a studio in an 1818 mansion called Elmwood Hall in Ludlow, Kentucky. His work is in the collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
