Description: (b. 1961) Ivano-Frankovsk, Ukraine Now lives in Prague, Czech Republic. Taras is a classically trained graduate of the Institute of Art in Kiev. Whether he is painting brooding beauties or phantom landscapes, Taras Loboda has a way of using color that seduces the senses. Lobodas women, with sad eyes and puffy exaggerated lips, and usually adorned with vivid scarves, hats or floral concoctions, commanding an intriguing examination. His lake-scapes, with reflections of wild colorful vegetation and flowers suggest an enchanting radiance at the end of an elusive rainbow. The world created by him is a world of stiff and motionless apparitions, rather cold and in most cases looking devoid of emotional coloring. It is the world of obvious reservations, piercing reticence when everything is stopped half a step before understanding, a moment before the solution. The artist literally draws the spectator here, pulls him out of the everyday environment. He has participated in many Eastern European & International exhibitions.
