Description: Carbonell's sensitivy to the beauty and expressive connection of the love between a mother and child inspired this sculpture. The mother in a reclining position holds the child as two souls become one. It portrays the love and nurturing that expresses the affection of a mother with her child. It mediates between the representation of reality in the image and abstract representation of love. Carbonell in his personal philosophy searched for the essence of the form and the absence of detail while empowering a feeling of monumentality to his sculptures. His work has been identified with the force of Rodin, the monumentality of Moore and the simplicity of Brancusi, but in a very different and consistent personal style.
