Native American Pottery, Acoma Pottery, Wedding Jar, Polychrome with Birds, Circa 1920's-1930's-#680(189 views)
Description: Native American, Acoma Pottery, Twin-spouted wedding jar, polychrome with birds, The design integrates stylized birds, fauna, and pre-historic symbology seamlessly around a squat, bulbous form. At eye level, the shape is more akin to a bowl than a jar - but unlike bowls, there's a top surface - so the piece displays just as well below eye level. In fact, the top surface is where the artist did her best work. The stirrup connecting the two spouts is fashioned from three clay coils, with the delineation apparent.
