ORIGINAL ELLES - BEFORE BOTTOM TEXT VINTAGE POSTER BY TOULOUSE LAUTREC 1896(209 views)
Description: The Elles series by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec (1864-1901) was devoted to women depicted in a brothel setting. While the series is not sexually graphic, there is a strong suggestion of this lady's profession by the use of a man's hat in the image. This piece is rare and was printed without the addition of the bottom text. Henri Marie Raymond de Toulouse-Lautrec-Monfa (24 November 1864-9 September 1901), also known as Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was a French painter, printmaker, draughtsman and illustrator whose immersion in the colourful and theatrical life of Paris in the late 19th century allowed him to produce a collection of enticing, elegant and provocative images of the modern, sometimes decadent, life of those times. Toulouse-Lautrec is among the best-known painters of the Post-Impressionist period, alongside Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin. This is an Original Vintage Poster. It is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
