Description: This Pre Columbian Paracas vessel depicts a falcon waiting with outstretched legs, wings open and tail plumage. The domed top is painted in red and green post fired slip. The wings are decorated with a chevron pattern. The projecting head is turned to the left with a pointed beak and double bands extending from the rounded eyes. The bridge spout is decorated with circles. A similar example is illustrated in Ancient Peruvian Ceramics: the Nathan Cummings Collection, (1966: fig. 191).
