Paul Chidlaw, "Greek Celebration" - Original painting(88 views)
Description: Paul Chidlaw, "Greek Celebration" - Mixed media on canvas, 30"x36", signed lower left, framed. This abstract figurative work was inspired by Chidlaw's travels abroad. A crowd gathers for a festival in the square, their homes appear in the distance amid an energetic atmosphere of brush red, yellow, pink, and blue strokes. -- One of Cincinnati's first abstract expressionists, Chidlaw (1900 - 1989) studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and at L'Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Fontainebleau, France. He later moved to Paris and studied with Jean Despujols and Andre L'Hote, before returning to Cincinnati, where he lived and worked.
